The liver is one of the hardest working organs in the body. It works non-stop to detoxify our blood, produce the bile needed to digest fats, and store essential vitamins and minerals.
Without a healthy liver, we can’t digest our food – especially fats – properly, nor can we remove the toxins coming from the environment, processed foods and even our own chemical processes. Give the liver some love by following these three steps.
1. Remove processed foods from your diet
Remove processed, packaged foods from your diet and add real foods such as whole vegetables and organic, grass-fed meats. Avoid conventional meats as they are often raised with the use of antibiotics.
2. Add liver detoxifying herbs
Milk Thistle, Turmeric and Dandelion can be very beneficial to the liver. Milk Thistle boosts an antioxidant in your body called Glutathione, which helps detox your liver and cells. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory that can reduce liver inflammation. Dandelion is packed with potassium and other compounds that act as a diuretic, causing your liver to release toxins.
3. Detox your emotions
The emotions you experience directly affect certain organs. When it comes to the liver, frustration, anger, and resentment affect the liver directly. These toxic emotions affect your well-being, so work on detoxifying these emotions by adding joy into your life and practicing deep breathing and exercise.
